A/Professor Colin Caprani
Colin Caprani is a structural engineering researcher and professional leader working to make infrastructure safer, more reliable and better understood. He leads the Structural Safety and Performance Group at Monash University, bringing together structural reliability, traffic loading, monitoring, dynamics and software to improve infrastructure decisions.
His research spans bridge loading and extreme events, structural health monitoring, vehicle–bridge interaction, vibration serviceability and data-informed asset management. His work combines probability, field data and engineering judgement, translating research into practical tools, standards and better outcomes for infrastructure.
Colin contributes through research leadership, professional practice, standards development, software and public engagement, with an international record of collaboration, teaching and invited speaking.

ARC Research Hub for nanoscience based construction material manufacturing
The research Hub will develop novel construction materials including binders, cement additives, high performance
concrete materials, concrete structural systems, polymer composites, and pavement materials. The multidisciplinary Hub provides a centralised platform to transform construction materials industry into an advanced manufacturing sector delivering sustainable and resilient infrastructure assets. The Hub will deeply drive advances in nanotechnology, cement chemistry, concrete technology and develop extreme engineering solutions. The Hub will train the next generation of skilled workforce, re-positioning Australian industry competitiveness and global market leadership to capture international infrastructure development opportunities.
